We recently returned from 18 days of the best vacation we have ever taken. It was a trip to South Africa organized by Hosted Africa and it covered everything we could have possibly wanted to do, from sightseeing in Johannesburg, to wine tasting in the Stellenbosch/Franschoek regions, to the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. In Cape Town we went up Table Mountain, with its fantastic view over the city. We also went to the Cape of Good Hope and saw the ferocity of the waves crashing against the shore, then to Boulders Bay where we saw the penguin colonies.

Lastly, but for us the best part of the trip, we went on the most fantastic game drives you could imagine. To be able to get so close to and see such incredible wildlife in its natural environment was an experience we will never, ever forget. Each day was a new and unexpected adventure – from seeing lion cubs playing to a newborn giraffe learning to walk, from beautiful sunrises and sunsets to river safaris where we saw hippos and exotic birds.

Our trip organizers, Ronnie and Dee Pitcher, took great care in picking places for us to stay. The safari camps especially were luxurious and the food delicious – we certainly were not roughing it! Everything was so well organized and Ronnie and Dee, who obviously love the country and the people we met, passed on to our small group that feeling of appreciation for everything we experienced.

We’d go back in a heartbeat!
